F1 Fever hits India
With the onset of the Indian Grand Prix at Buddh International Circuit in Noida in a few days time, F1 fever has again hit across the country. Car, Equipments, Drivers and Teams have started arriving and the Buddh Circuit is full of activity. Marshalls getting trained, Media Accreditions, Landscaping and Finishing Touches are in full swing for the 2nd year of the prestigious event. Events and promos with F1 theme are all over the places and the corporates like Airtel and Vodafone are on full swing. People from around the country and other parts of world are landing in Delhi and this year is yet again expected to be a grand success as the inaugural year but with more confidence.
Last year´s race saw Red Bull´s Sebastien Vettel make a clean sweep of the first ever IndianGP with a pole, fastest lap and a victory. Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan participating in the race for HRT while another Indian driver Karun Chandhok took his Team Lotus F1 car to graze the track during Practice 1. Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar flagged the race and closed the race showing the checkered flag while bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and many others took the VIP Lounge.
F1 Legend Jackie Stewart was impressed by the Indian Racing Fraternity and wanted India to focus on karting events while World Champion Sebastien Vettel got inspired by the hardships of kids in rural India. Great drivers like Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastien Vettel, Mark Webber, Jenson Button and many others along with our very own Narain Karthikeyan finally raced their F1 cars in Indian soil which was a dream for many Indian F1 fans for many years and with superfast Formula cars like Ferrari, McLaren, RedBull, Lotus and Vijay Mallaya´s brain child Force India vroomed around the Indian circuit.
Two support races, Fomula BMW JK Racing Asia Series and MRF F1600 Delhi Challenge where held along with the main Formula 1 race. Young Indian drivers like Akhil Khuslani, Vishnu Prasad and Raj Bharath did some brilliant driving in the JKRAS while Ashwin Sundar, Karthik Shankar and others showed class in MRF Delhi Challenge among International drivers.
This year too the F1 circus is coming into India with much expectations and the Indian GP will be a very crucial race for the title contenders. Narain Karthikeyan will be carrying the Indian Flag in the drivers category while Sahara Force India will be carrying the Indian mantle in the team category.
Along with the main F1 races the two support races are scheduled and which will also bring lots of fireworks with a bunch of young Indian drivers challenging for the victory.
